EIS Completed for Fred Hutchinson Expansion

The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) has completed its environmental review to allow up to seven new buildings at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center totaling approximately 1,055,000 gross square feet of laboratory, research and development, and office use.

The subject site is currently developed with a number of buildings occupied by research laboratories, offices, and a large surface parking lot. The proposed area of development represents the next comprehensive build-out phase of the larger Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center campus.

The Director of the DPD has determined the Environmental Impact Statement adequately describes and assesses the adverse impacts of the proposed project and the project has been conditioned to mitigate impacts (i.e. it has been approved).

Copies of the Draft and Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statements are available at the DPD Public Resource Center, and appeals can be made to the Hearing Examiner about the decision until September 7, 2009.
