Cascade Neighborhood Sign Welcomes Again

Grace Crunican, Lloyd Douglas, Don Clifton

The 'Heart of the City' officially welcomes all its neighbors again at the  Wednesday afternoon unveiliing of the Cascade neighborhhood sign. Located at the corner of Denny Way and Fairview Ave. N. it is the first to be placed around the neighborhood. Photos and locations of the other signs will be posted later.

During her remarks, SDOT Director Grace Crunican noted that the actions of the residents and workers in the City's neighborhoods give diversity and vitality to life in the city. The signs are being paid for by Bridging the Gap funds and are an example of the small projects that can be accomplished.

Just before he pulled the rope to unveil the sign, Don Clifton said that this was an exmple of the residents and City staff working together to accomplish a common goal.

During my, Lloyd Douglas, brief remarks I said that with all the changes happening this will help pull the history of the neighborhood to the present andserve as a bridge to the future.

Nice looking
Sweet!

Good to know the "South Lake Union" name won't take over everything. :-) I always like saying that Immanuel is in Cascade.

What about the other sign?
While it's great the 'high-profile' sign was replaced, there has been a Cascade neighborhood sign up on Mercer Street just above Fairview Avenue. It's been there this whole time and, in my mind, symbolizes the real entrance into the neighborhood.

Viva Cascade!
Seeing as the neighborhood has four geographical boundaries, Mercer, Fairview, Eastlake and Denny it has 4 "real entrances" or boundaries depending of course on which way you are traveling. All the signs that went mysteriously missing will be replaced at or near all of these locations. The little sign you are refering to near Mercer and Fairview never went missing and is somewhat of a mystery in itself as it never resembeled the other official City signs.
