Cascade Sign Ceremony

The City of Seattle and Department of Transportation will be holding an unveiling ceremony on this coming Wednesday, September 2nd at 5:00 pm at Denny and Fairview in Seattle to officially return the signs designating the name of the neighborhood as the Cascade.

The Cascade is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city as well as the geographical center of Seattle. We are proud of our neighborhood's long and vibrant history.

See historylink for more on the history of the neighborhood.

These signs had stood proudly in their selective locations for many years until they mysteriously went missing from the Cascade a few years ago, amidst a flurry of construction and the promoting of South Lake Union.

A chance meeting in the neighborhood between Mayor Nickels and one of the "Ride the S.L.U.T." shirt originators, Don Clifton, led to the completion of the requested signs with the cooperation of Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).

Since Rick is a faster poster than myself, I'm just going to post a picture of where the sign used to reside.
