The fallout of the Nickels/Drago/Vulcan conspiracy has not resulted in any arraignments or arrests—just another council vote.
On Monday, the Seattle City Council cancelled the check they wrote for Mercer in February as part of a failed attempt to attract federal stimulus dollars. The project is still inching forward as the Council agreed to allow planning and land acquisition to continue, but no construction may occur until the Mayor presents a non-mythical funding plan.
Mayor Nickels had this to say in a press release today: "The project continues to move forward on schedule and will go out for construction bids in late June, with the goal of breaking ground in late fall. Once bids are received, and before going to construction, an updated finance plan will be presented to the City Council."
