Picked this up off the SLU Chamber newsletter, sounds pretty cool!
Scoot About is testing a scooter rental program similar to the Flexcar/Zipcar concept.
Owner, Susan Richardson is looking for a select number of business participants to test the concept during a 30 day period (July/August)*.
Short program description:
Scooters are made available to business members to run in-city errands and quick trips. Members would use a simple punch card to track time used at 1/2 hour increments.
Enrollment includes a scooter orientation and safety checklist. Pilot program rates are $5 per 1/2 hour and includes gas for the first 10 miles. Helmet and goggles are also provided.
Susan cites several major benefits:
- More parking choices
- Zero to low cost parking downtown
- Only a regular driver's license required
- Gas is included (up to 10 miles)
Larger businesses might also be able to add this to existing employee commute trip reduction programs. On-site scooter locations are also a possibility.
Scoot About aims to add a road worthy, all-electric scooter to their selection. It is a zero emissions scooter with a range of up to 25 miles.

*Bonus ride time will be provided to pilot program participants.
